Carissimo Presidente Sig.
Born in 1970, Stefano Trabucchi was the youngest of five children in a big family from Sondrio, Italy.
He began studying the violin at the age of eight.
Immediately after graduating from junior high school, attracted by violin making, he enrolled in the “International School of Violin Making” in Cremona: he attended the four-year course under the guidance of Master violinmakers Negroni, Amighetti and Conia, graduating in 1988 with full marks. In the same year he entered Maestro Nolli’s workshop in Cremona, where he deepened and refined his skills.
In early 1992 he opened his own workshop in the center of Cremona.
He has participated for several years with personal stands at the most important trade fairs: MusikMesse Frankfurt, Mondomusica Cremona, Music China Shanghai, PALM Expo Fair China in Beijin, Stringed instruments fair Tokyo and Namm show in Los Angeles
He curates the collection of musical instruments (including a Stradivari cello) of the prestigious Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he holds an open workshop every year during the summer courses.
Since 2010 he has served as the President of the Violinmakers’ group within the Confartigianato Imprese Cremona Association, which comprises over 80 master craftsmen. His leadership was recently reaffirmed with a unanimous reappointment.
In April 2024, he was elected President of Confartigianato Imprese Cremona, a prestigious association representing more than 1,800 artisans and small businesses in the Cremona province. Notably, he is the first president from the violinmaking community to hold this position.
He had already served as the association’s Vice President from 2011 until his recent elevation to President.
His extensive involvement includes serving as a former board member of the Consorzio liutai A. Stradivari of Cremona. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of both the Violin Museum and the Violinmaking School, as well as the Steering Committee of the Cremona MondoMusica event. Additionally, he represents CremonaFiere S.p.A. on the Management Committee of Cremona Musica.
Master Trabucchi represented Cremonese Violinmaking at UNESCO in Paris in 2013 on the occasion of the proclamation of Cremona Liutaria as a UNESCO intangible heritage.
In 2015, he made a violin decorated in gold leaf for Thailand’s King Rama IX.
In 2018, he also built the multi-cited, in all major newspaper, “Blue Violin” also for the Thai royal family, who then donated it to the Princess Vadhana Galyana Royal Institute of Music in Bangkok. Also in Thailand, he is conservator and trusted luthier of the symphony orchestras of the three royal arms.
In 2018, he created a special violin for the renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, with a distinctive logo made of gold leaf.
He specializes in building instruments with special and precious gold embellishments and grafting real jewels.
His masterpieces are recognized and appreciated all over the world, from where continuous requests and orders come.
Every instrument that comes out of the skilled hands of Master Violinmaker Stefano Trabucchi is the result of art, study, high craftsmanship and a lot of passion.
With more than 30 years of experience, his violins, violas, and cellos are made totally by hand following the knowledge and techniques of the ancient violinmakers of Cremona.
