Seedlac

Lac resin is an organic substance secreted by female lac insects (Laccifer lacca) that parasitize the branches of plants such as the Indian fig (Ficus religiosa L.) and secrete a resinous substance around themselves for self-protection. Lac resin contains a red dye. Collected lac resin is called stick lac, which is further refined (crushed) and sold commercially as seed lac.
