Frankincense,

- /

This resin is secreted from trees of the genus Boswellia, which belong to the family Burseraceae, in the order Sapindales. Since ancient times, chunks of this resin have been burned to make incense, or used as a raw material for perfumes and other fragrances. It is primarily produced in the southern Arabian Peninsula, including Oman and Yemen, and in East Africa, including Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Egypt. It is only about 30% soluble in ethanol.
