Dye: Widely distributed along the tropical coasts of Southeast Asia. The wood is hard, resistant to termites and saltwater, and is used for construction and pulp, as well as for making high-quality charcoal. It is reddish-brown in color and soluble in alcohol. It is used to create realistic cracks in the varnish of imitation violins.
