Bastard Saffron,yellow to yellowish red

This dye is native to Europe and is cultivated in Spain, France, Italy, etc. It is made from the dried pistils. It takes about 160 flowers to produce 1 gram of saffron. It is water-soluble and is used to dye plain wood violins golden yellow. Old German violins appear yellow due to the saffron dye.
