The history of violin making began in the 16th century and spread from Italy to Germany and then to France.
More and more manufacturers moved from German cities to Hungary, and many Hungarian manufacturers influenced by Italy and Germany were born.
Especially from the mid-1900s onwards, the history of Italian violin making declined, and master craftsmen appeared in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries.

Arany Ferenc is a manufacturer based in Budapest, Hungary, that continues to produce violins using traditional Italian techniques.
