Eckart Richter

He was born in 1936 into a family that had been making string instruments since his great-grandfather's time.
He studied under Werner Voigt.
In 1959, he was awarded the title of Meister.
He opened his own workshop in 1970.
In 1983 he won a prize at the Louis Spohr Violin Competition in Kassel.
His high level of skill is also evidenced by his having served as a judge at competitions held in Poznan (Poland), Sofia (Bulgaria), Hradec Kralove (Czech Republic), Mittenwald (Germany), Moscow (Russia), and other places.
