Simeone Morassi
He is the eldest son of the contemporary master Gio Batta Morassi.
He learned to play the violin from an early age, and while visiting his father's workshop, he developed a passion for violin making.
Although his playing ability was good enough to pass the entrance exam to the Udine Conservatory, he decided to become a maker and graduated from the Cremona International School of Violin Making in 1984. He began working in his father's workshop.
While creating works influenced by Gio Batta, he eventually developed his own talent and became a top manufacturer, winning awards around the country.
He has received numerous awards, including in Mittenwald, Germany (1989), Paris, France (1991), Poznan, Poland (1996), Esztergom, Hungary (2000), and Náchod, Czech Republic (2004), and has recently served as a jury member for competitions.
He also serves as president of the Association of Italian String Instrument Makers (ALI) and is actively involved in activities to preserve and nurture the history of string instrument making in Cremona, Italy.
