Giorgio Grisales

Grisales / Italy Cremona / b.1963 /

Born in 1963.
In 1982 he moved to Cremona and began working as a violin maker. In 1988 he graduated from the National School of Violin Making in Cremona under the guidance of Giorgio Ce (1948-2017), and later he also attended and graduated from the bow making course organised by the "Regione Lombardia".

To further hone his skills, he studied repair at the Civic School of Violinmaking in Milan, and later opened a workshop with Edgar Russ (1966-) in Cremona.

He currently continues to produce instruments ranging from violins to double basses in his own workshop, and won a silver medal in the double bass category at the 2006 Cremona Triennale.

The instruments, inspired by great Italians such as Ferdinando Garimberti (1894-1982) and Giuseppe Ornati (1887-1965), are highly acclaimed around the world.

His nephew Riccardo (1980-) is also a student of Giorgio, and recently his son Andrea Grisales has also been involved in violin making.
