Benjamin Patocka

Patocka / Czech Republic / 1864-1931 /

Born in 1864 in Paseky, Czech Republic.

He was a maker of both violins and bows. In 1879 he became a pupil of Josef Metelka (1842-1880) in Pasek, and later worked in Glasersdorf, Prague, Schumburg, and other places.
He returned to his hometown in 1888 and in 1894 the Czech Republic gained independence in Jicin.
Using very high quality materials and a soft alcohol varnish with a unique color, the product has won numerous awards in competitions.
Some instruments are labeled using Cyrillic characters.
They also produced high-quality musical bows, which were purchased by many soloists.

He died in Jicin in 1931 (at the age of 67).
