Giuseppe Stefanini

Stefanini / Brescia, Italy / 1908-1992 /

Born in Ravenna, Italy in 1908.

He began making string instruments under Luigi Vistoli (1890-1980) in Ravenna.

After the post-war chaos subsided, Stefanini worked with Nicola Utili (1888-1962) and Pietro Borghi (1892-1957).

Through them he was introduced to the Bisiach workshop (Giacomo & Leandro Bisiach 1900-1995/1904-1982) in Milan, which was highly acclaimed.

Stefanini produced many instruments for the Bijacchi workshop and won prizes in various competitions.

(Roma 1954, Ancona 1957, Pegli 1960, Cremona 1976,1979)

He worked in a workshop in Brescia from 1957 to 1986, then moved to Florence where he lived until his death.

The instruments, coated with golden yellow to orange varnish, are extremely carefully crafted and strongly reflect Stefanini's aesthetic sense.

He died in 1992 (at the age of 84).
