Vincenzo Sannino
Born in Naples in 1879.
While working as a violinist, he began to teach himself how to make violins.
As an Italian interpreter for Walter Hamma (1916-1988), a long-established German musical instrument dealer, I was able to observe old Italian instruments up close.
Therefore, his instruments are not bound by the Neapolitan tradition.
In 1914 he moved to Rome and became one of the most famous luthiers in Italy at the time.
He was also a talented copyist, copying instruments made by various Neapolitan makers, both famous and unknown, and attaching reproduction labels to them.
It has a beautiful varnish, but the wood has been treated with acid, which gives it a slightly greenish tint.
During his lifetime he made 700 violins, 50 violas, and 80 cellos.
Died in Rome in 1969 (age 90)
