Romeo Antoniazzi

Antoniazzi / Milan, Italy / 1862-1925 /

Born in Cremona in 1862.

Son of Gaetano Antniazzi (1825-1897), brother of Riccardo Antniazzi (1853-1912)
His older brother Riccardo worked in Milan with Leandro Bisiacchi (1864-1946) and the artisans of the Monzino workshop, and trained many apprentices, including Giuseppe Pedrazzini (1879-1957), Ferdinando Garimberti (1894-1982), and Piero Parravincini (1889-1957).
Romeo's instrumental playing was generally less consistent than that of his brother Ricardo, but he produced some particularly fine compositions between 1885 and 1910.
The instruments are made using Stradivari, Guarneri and personal models and are finished with a transparent orange-brown varnish.
Although Romeo's label states that the place of manufacture is Cremona, all production took place in Milan.
He has won gold and silver medals at exhibitions held in Milan, Turin and Paris.

He died in Milan in 1925 (at the age of 63).
