Martin Tiefenbrunner

Martin Tiefenbrunner was born in Mittenwald in 1687.

His father, Joachim (Joachim Tiefenbrunner?-?), is said to have also been a violin maker, but the details are unknown.

Martin is said to have been a pupil of Mathias Klotz (1656-1743).

His sons also became violin makers, and the Mittenwald family became important.

The influence of Klotz can be clearly seen in the style of this valuable old German violin, which is the source of the Mittenwald school.

He died after 1735.
