Pernambuco wood has long been used as a bow material. It grows in northern Brazil, but is currently in danger of depletion, leading to restrictions on its import and export under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). While alternative woods like Masalanduba (commonly known as Brazilwood) are being used, carbon fiber has emerged as a material less susceptible to environmental conditions such as humidity. "GEORG EDLER CARBON" bows are manufactured in China using traditional carbon fiber, making them more affordable.
